CRUISERS DO SOME "HORSIN' AROUND" AT TURFWAY
|
The gang, or at least as many as can, are headed to Cincinatti, OH in March to do the horse track at Turfway. March is our every year "winter" road trip month - driving what we want. But, let's face it, IT'S MARCH and this IS the Midwest! What will we do? Well, eat, enjoy the races in our club seats (all arranged by our Road Trip Coordinator "Speed" Baker). (We ensure he brings up the rear or we would all have tickets.) Oh, ya, was food mentioned? Dinner and overnight fun on the Ohio River. More food and then enjoy a great Sunday returning sometime......who said car clubs hibernate in the winter - or stay in their garages waiting for spring? Not us....we have been to every museum in Detroit (over a period of years), to the Corvette Museum, Auburn, IN, Brookville Roadster and the Airforce Museum in Ohio - just to mention a few.

It has been reported that there is a distinct possibility that certain of the Brandywine Cruisers should from this day forth travel to the lower Cincinatti area with the cover of deep darkness - and very possibly with a bucket over their head for good measure! It will not be said that this is a necessity for any of the ladies of the Cruisers, only for the guy members - and then not exactly all of them! Maybe one or two. But, who's checking and who's asking. Only those actually there will ever know and it's probably best left as such! As in the flicks, it was "Breakfast at 8" (well actually 9) at the Cracker Barrel/Shelbyville and then on east for a quick run to Ohio then Kentucky.

It was time for studying - the horses, that is! As seen here, the ponies proved to be "serious" business. According to reports every one "broke even". Ya, right!
After a hard day at the track it was "rest time" (and for some "nap time" then the Cruise Director let all to a fabulous Italian dinner house not far from the grand Ohio River where more was eaten that was really necessary - but then why not? Good food - Good friends - a great day.
